Our visit to Tony Lyon's apiary on Saturday 15th June fulfilled all expectations of another great end to our beekeeping meetings, before we take a summer break. We experienced handling bees, practicing queen marking and clipping, introducing a queen into a hive, transferring a nuc into a hive, swarm control, and a queen rearing demonstration from Terry Meakin and Jimmy Lott. Thank you to all the demonstrators who helped out on the day and to members who brought delicious goodies to enjoy after the demonstrations. Enjoy the rest of the summer and hopefully the weather will be kind to our bees to yield a good honey harvest this year.
