Beginner's Apiary visit 2024

The sun shone down on Dermot Fanning's Apiary as the newbees, suited and booted, completed their Beginner's 2024 course on Saturday 11th May 2024. The interest in the course surpassed all expectations this year, with more than 40 participating in the 5 lectures, given by Colm Penston in the Heritage Centre in Ashford, Co. Wicklow. Groups of 5 beginners, led by mentors, opened the hives to see the activity of the colonies and get some hands on knowledge of handling the bees. Suitably refreshed after the mandatory cuppa, and home bakes (thanks to all who donated), Colm Penston awarded the certificates of completion to those present.
