Lectures for members are on the last Wednesday night of the month @ 7.30 p. m  in Ashford Community & Heritage Centre, Ashford, Co. Wicklow.

 Please note the new start time for lectures in 2025 is 7.30 p.m.  Tea and coffee and library open from 7.15 p.m

Wednesday 29th January:  Title:  Foulbrood in the Apiary.  Lecture given by Terry Meakin.  "Foulbroods. Possibly a beekeeper’s greatest fear and to the novice, perhaps also a bit of a mystery.  What exactly is it? Where does it come from? How do you know if you have it, and what do you do then? In my lecture I will be highlighting the importance of thorough disease checks during the busy season while exercising good Beekeeping husbandry at all times."  We encourage members to join us on the 29th - don't miss what will be a valuable and informative talk.

Wednesday 26th February:  Title :The Art and Science of Pollen.  Lecture by Paul Fitters, who is a lecturer with  Teagasc, College of Amenity Horticulture, National Botanic Gardens, Glasnevin Dublin.

Wednesday 26th March:  Title : Understanding Swarm Control.  Lecture by Tony Lyons, who will give us a timely reminder and refresher on swarm control methods within our colonies.

Wednesday 30th April: Title: The Asian Hornet. Lecture by Frankie deDobbelaere. The main objective of the lecture on Asian Hornets (Vespa velutina) is to draw awareness on these hornets, in particular how to recognise the Asian Hornets and their nests and to report any sighting of it to Biodiversity Ireland or DAFM. The lecture covers also the lifecycle of the Asian Hornet, actions to prevent its settlement, and many other interesting aspects related to Asian Hornets
