After an unavoidable break of two years, we are thrilled to announce the ABKA Annual Honey Festival is back on 24th September 2022, in our beautiful venue at the Ashford Heritage Centre and Parish Grounds.

Our Association has a clear vision for our Honey Festival as being a truly unique community event, and we certainly aim to achieve this again in September, when we plan an even bigger Festival with the help of our wonderful volunteers! The Heritage Centre will be buzzing once again!  In 2019, we welcomed 2000+ happy visitors of all ages who gathered to soak up the atmosphere.

We will have tables laden with the very best of local honey from our beekeepers, and you can choose the type  you like best at the tasting table.  The members of Ashford & District Beekeepers offer their honey on the day at a special Festival price, not to be repeated, so stock up while you can!  Alongside,  there will be bee friendly plants, organic produce, demonstrations, an interactive Kiddies’ story telling corner, face painting, quiz and more - which all goes to make this day a truly memorable family event.

Come see the observation  hives where our expert beekeepers will beon hand to provide an insight into the fascinating world of bees, the importance of our native Irish black bee, Apis Mellifera Mellifera and pollinators.

Awards will be presented to the winners of the Children’s Art & Poetry competitions (all entries will be on display in the Centre), and Eanna Ni Lamhna is our guest speaker.  She will talk to us about the importance of biodiversity to protect our pollinators.

In the grounds of the Heritage Centre, the bar-b-que will be fired up; refreshments, home-made cakes, ice cream for all tastes, will be accompanied by music and song from our guest musicians and singers.

We hope you’ll join the fun and that the bees, weather and world will be in harmony once again and ready to celebrate a great Honey Festival!
